How the RCC Cares for Its Elephants in the Fight Against Animal Abuse

Elephants are majestic creatures and the Royal Canadian Circus has spent decades treating its elephants with respect and dignity. We are strongly against animal abuse and animal cruelty. All of our elephants are raised in a wholesome environment that is based on positive reinforcement.

In order to show our commitment to fighting against animal abuse and animal cruelty, our circus has worked hard to build a positive relationship with all of our animals. All of our elephants are placed in positive environments that reward desired behaviors. Rewards include food treats, verbal praise, and other enriching items that will bring happiness to the elephant.

The key to building a successful relationship with an elephant is to develop a positive relationship between the elephant’s trainer and the animal itself. Trainers that practice animal abuse and animal cruelty will not gain the respect of their animals. In addition, abused elephants may comply with orders, but they will only do it out of fear and not out of a longstanding mutual respect.

We also provide our elephants with high quality care. We are strongly against animal abuse and animal cruelty. This is exemplified through our daily care plans which offer baths, oral hygiene, foot care, weigh-ins, and ample amounts of exercise. While our elephant facilities cannot recreate the freedom of the jungle, our trainers work hard to make the animals feel loved.

The Royal Canadian Circus offers a circus built upon the foundations of tradition and fun. We are opposed to animal abuse and animal cruelty. We offer shows in Calgary, Red Deer, Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, and throughout all of Alberta. If you have any questions about our commitment to fighting animal abuse, animal cruelty, or our elephants, please feel free to contact us today.
